Believer
Sanity Obscure
R.E.X./R/C, 1990
Speed metal with the
intensity of attack common to death metal, Believer's sound is inspired by
early Voivod, Kreator, and Destruction. Razor-sharp in its precision and
intelligent in its compositional structure, the music ranges from
traditional speed metal workouts to progressive explorations in
tech-metal. "Dies Irae" combines speed metal and orchestral music to
create dramatic moods, and the band covers U2's "Like A Song" in the speed
metal tradition to positive result.

Dimensions
Roadrunner,1993
Delving into the avante garde, Believer's third and final album starts from a
speed metal foundation, then branches out into progressive structures, bizarre
soundscapes, and a three-part epic fusing metal and classical orchestration with
female operatic singing. Excellent use of violin throughout this piece, as well
as in "Dementia", where a beautiful guitar-violin arrangement carries the song
to realms of musical bliss. Strange and beautiful, Dimensions is an
intelligent work offering some truly fine music.
