| Abyssic Hate is based in Melbourne, Australia, and is the work of sole composer/performer Shane Rout, formerly a member of Destroyer 666. The musical style of Abyssic Hate is minimalist, trance-inducing black metal, reminiscent of early Burzum. The monochromatic repetition of Brave Murder Day-era Katatonia is also evoked. Lyrical themes concentrate on depression, alienation, suicidal thoughts, and misanthropy. Only one official full-length album has been released: Suicidal Thoughts, in 2000 on No Colours Records. Aside from this, a number of EPs and splits have been issued. The first demo was released in 1994. The most recent release is a compilation disc titled A Decade Of Hate, released in 2006. Rout has reported current work on a second full-length, expected for a 2008 release. |

Abyssic Hate Isolationist black metal project Abyssic Hate create monochromatic soundscapes of misanthropic depression. Sole composer/performer Shane Rout has acquired honesty of emotional representation through the most appropriate and effective methods from his influences, namely early Burzum and Brave Murder Day-era Katatonia. Debut full-length recording, Suicidal Emotions, offers four funereal tracks of sheer mental and emotional dejection and sempiternal desperation. Through trance-inducing delirium of repetitious necro-music, Abyssic Hate deliver an experience beyond mere sound. This is art inspired by the realization of the utter darkness of existence and grimness of reality, and it aims to confront the listener with this very realization to the point of unreluctant acceptance. Duration and tensity form the operational substructure over which enchantment formulates through repetitive motion of sound to establish a captivating yet hallucinogenic ambience. Purposely constructed for sustainment of emotional atmospheres of dreary darkness, this music is hate and depression expressed through claustrophobic movement of sound reflecting the feeling of such states of being in their deepest and most profound condition. Guitars are sick with dense layers of distortion in hypnotic function of static voids of suffocating despair over drums acting more as rhythmic streams of foundation, barely noticeable through the thickness of distorted, fuzz-drenched guitar chords. Vocals are equally buried in the mix, relegating the woeful screams of dejection to apparitional cries bathed in nocturnal distance. Minimalism exercised through subtle shifts in motion resembles the reality of depression, with extended pauses of percussion allowing guitars to isolate for repetition towards transition, leaving no hope for the slightest hint of enthusiasm. Complete and total disconsolateness experienced through empty days of uselessness, afflicted with bitterness and disgust for a world suffering from cancerous humanity. "All means seemingly focus towards the end It would be an unfortunate and ultimately crippling mistake to cast away the ideological essence of this work as pitiful moaning. The pain and suffering expressed throughout Suicidal Emotions can only be borne of unyielding love and hope for a better world, and the corrosive contempt and black vomit-inducing disgust aroused from the observance of the unspeakable horror and destruction humanity has carried forth upon the Earth is channeled through this work to communicate a desire for change which can only be realized through actions the ordinary find deplorable. These lengthy, abstract songs present a choice to those cloaked in sorrow’s blackness: remove yourself from your misery through self-extermination or awake to the spirit of your emotional suffering by discovering its root and rise to eliminate the source, rather than be deceived by it. "But the solace lay beyond the darkness To deny the darkness of emotion is to fail to experience existence in the wholeness of its capacity. What Abyssic Hate display on Suicidal Emotions is a favorable approach to accepting this reality and embracing it as one embraces moments of elation. Both are essential to truthful life. Those who see beyond the imagery of self-mutilation and frowning song-titles will arrive at this understanding, if not having done so already, yet these are few in number, a fact taken into account by the tradition of strictly limited Abyssic Hate releases. The very nature of this grim work’s existence brings awareness towards meaningful change through existential suffering, and produces evidence of motivational inspiration arising from the suffocating misery cast upon souls who are alive and passionate enough to be painfully affected by the degenerate condition of our modern age. 6/14/06 Tracklisting: 1.
